Getting here
The roads in from every direction, the border crossings that are open, the airports on both sides of the border and the Amtrak option to Plattsburgh.
The cabins are near the hamlet of Owls Head in the Town of Bellmont, New York, about ten road miles south of Malone village. A car or SUV is essential, per every listing; here are the roads, the border crossings, the airports and the train that get you to the rental counter and the last county road.
By road
From Malone village, County Route 25 south. From the south, NY 30 north past Meacham Lake, then county roads for the last few miles. From Plattsburgh and the Northway, NY 190 and US 11 west. From the west, US 11 through Potsdam. The host sends exact directions after booking; use them, because guests report that phone maps route inconsistently out here and one noted a seasonal road closure nearby.
From Canada
The Trout River crossing on NY 30, the old direct route into Malone, is closed to U.S.-bound traffic for reconstruction from June 1, 2026, with completion targeted for May 2028. From Montreal use Fort Covington (open 24 hours, 93 miles) or Lacolle–Champlain (open 24 hours, 101 miles), or Chateaugay (6 a.m. to 6 p.m., about 75 miles). From Ottawa, the Three Nations Crossing at Cornwall and Massena is open 24 hours. Every crossing and its hours →
